✦ The Social Update ✦

Parties, Friends & Player Settings have arrived on Mythrend.

Mythrend has always been about more than just gameplay — it's about the people you share it with. Until now, though, connecting with those people meant relying on Discord calls and chat messages to coordinate. Who's online? Where are they? Can we play together?

Today, that changes. We're introducing three interconnected systems that bring social infrastructure directly into the server — designed from the ground up to make playing with friends feel seamless, and to give every player control over their own experience.

🎉 Party System

We built the Party System to solve a simple problem: playing together on Mythrend should be effortless. No more counting down in voice chat to queue at the same time. No more hoping you end up in the same arena. Parties make group play a first-class experience.

Create a party, invite your friends, and the server takes care of the rest. When the party leader queues into a game, the entire group goes together — automatically. No coordination required.

But parties aren't just about queuing. The Party Warp feature lets the leader pull everyone to their current server with a single command. If a member happens to be mid-game, the system warns you before interrupting them and gives you a confirmation window to decide. It's designed to be powerful without being disruptive.

Parties also come with their own private chat channel. Toggle it on and your messages only go to party members — complete with its own visual styling so you always know which channel you're in. Hover the chat icon for a full list of party commands without ever leaving the conversation.

Every interaction is built around clickable messages. Invites arrive with [Accept] and [Decline] buttons right in chat. The party list shows each member's online status and links directly to their profile. It's all designed to minimize typing and maximize playing.

And if someone disconnects? The system doesn't panic. A five-minute grace window keeps their spot in the party, giving them time to reconnect without forcing the whole group to reorganize.

💜 Friends System

Mythrend now has a dedicated Friends System — and it's more than a contact list.

Adding a friend is as simple as /friends add [player] or clicking the friend button on their profile. Requests expire after five minutes to keep things clean, and incoming requests show up as clickable accept/decline buttons in chat — no commands to memorize.

Once you're connected, the server keeps you informed. You'll receive real-time notifications whenever a friend joins or leaves the network, so you always know when your people are around. Your Friends List is a fully interactive GUI — paginated, sorted with online players first, and every entry is a clickable player skull that opens directly into that friend's profile.

From a friend's profile, you can see their online status and what they're playing, view their linked Discord, send them a private message, invite them to your party, or manage the friendship — all without closing the panel.

Friends also integrate directly with the Party System and your privacy settings. Want party invites from friends only? That's a single toggle. Prefer to keep your DMs limited to people you actually know? Done. The systems are built to work together.

⚙️ Player Settings

Every player experiences the server differently, and your settings should reflect that. The new Player Settings panel — accessible from your profile — gives you granular control over how you interact with the network.

Settings are organized into three categories:

👥 Social — Control who can send you friend requests, who can invite you to parties, and whether your linked socials are visible on your profile. Each setting supports up to three tiers: everyone, friends only, or no one.

💬 Chat — Decide whose public chat you see, who can DM you, and whether profanity gets filtered. Every option is audience-scoped, so you can allow unfiltered chat from friends while keeping things clean everywhere else.

🏠 Lobby — Toggle lobby flight, join fireworks, arrival announcements, gadget interactions, and even adjust the time of day in lobbies between light, default, and dark modes. Some options require a donator rank to unlock, but the full menu is visible to everyone so you know what's available.

Every setting updates instantly — no restart, no relog. Click the toggle, see the change. The panel itself uses intuitive color indicators: green for enabled, orange for friends-only, red for disabled.

✨ The Details That Matter

We put a lot of care into how these systems feel in practice, not just what they do on paper. A few things worth highlighting:

Everything is clickable. Friend requests, party invites, accept/decline actions, profile links in your friends list, player names in party chat — we've minimized the need to type commands for any social interaction.

Player profiles are the hub. View someone's profile and you'll find buttons for friending, partying, messaging, and reporting — all context-aware. If they're already your friend, the button switches to remove. If they're in your party, it switches to kick. The profile adapts to your relationship with that player.

Privacy is respected by default. Linked socials are hidden unless you explicitly choose to show them. Party invites default to open but can be restricted to friends or disabled entirely. The profanity filter is audience-aware — you can allow unfiltered language from friends while keeping chat clean from everyone else.

Systems talk to each other. Your friends list feeds into party invite permissions. Party chat respects the profanity filter settings. Online status indicators in the friends GUI reflect the same gamemode data used across the rest of the network. Nothing exists in isolation.

🔮 Looking Ahead

This update lays the foundation for something bigger. The social layer we've built isn't just a set of features — it's infrastructure that every future system on Mythrend can build on top of.

We have plans. Some of them are already in motion. But for now, we'll let you explore what's here and we'll be listening closely to your feedback as these systems settle in.

Mythrend is growing, and it's growing because of you. Thanks for being part of it.
